i've got rather large project i've been working on few months. i've been testing each component separately, , @ point i'm putting together. thing i'm (re)building 35mm motion picture film scanner 90s. able re-use of components (sensors, stepper motors, sprocket drive, etc). of individual pieces work fine, when test them on own. however, i'm having issues after putting whole thing together. my setup involves pcb arduino mega 2560 shield made. has 3 25-pin headers, connect external db25 connectors, in turn go breakout cables connect sensors , motors. again, these check out fine individually. 1 cable motor , relay control, , other cable sensors. all of sensors (proximity sensors , photo switches) require between 5 , 24vdc external power, , re-used 12vdc power supply in scanner. in testing, used benchtop power supply, i've tested power supply , works fine. should more powerful enough handle dozen or sensors needs power. the issue i'm having ...

hi, i got starter kit , going through know tools example. says need connect cathode ground using wire. pictures implies there wire red block on it. same goes anode. cant find these wires @ all. supposed included or provide myself? if included, did find (which box) , did like? thanks! i noticed colors of wires in book , in actual package can vary. doesn't matter, color of wire doesn't mean anything. however, i'd use same color same purpose. for  example, if wanted connect 3 leds pins on uno board, 3 connections used green wire. then, if send wire input pin on uno board breadboard use yellow, or along lines of that. hello i have built gps data logger. powered 3xaa ni-mh baterries step-up voltage converter (converts voltage 5v). the problem when baterries drained, voltage drops in couple of minutes level components underpowered, stop working , led on arduino glows. wold solve 3 issues: indicate low battery power auto power-off when baterry power critical notify arduino going powered off (normally or low power) can flush sd card , confirm "power off" previous point (= power off itself) any solution? there such power circuit available on market (ebay...)? thanks in advance. you use arduino measure voltage. i'm not sure whether better measure voltage @ battery or @ output of voltage converter. might need experiment see useful indicator. you should use internal 1.1v voltage reference voltage measurements independent of voltage powering arduino. require voltage divider brings maximum measured voltage below reference voltage. ...r ...

hello community, have installed compiz on laptop computer , works fine: gott rotating cube effect clicking on boxes in configuration menu. laptop's video card : 00:02.0 vga compatible controller: intel corporation mobile 915gm/gms/910gml express graphics controller (rev 03) now, when install compiz on desktop computer (a more recent machine) click right boxes on configuration menu nothing happens. it's though compiz had not been installed @ exception configuration menu there. video card on desktop is: 00:0d.0 vga compatible controller: nvidia corporation geforce 6150se nforce 430 (rev a2) both computers have undergone same ubuntu / windows xp dual boot installation process. video card of desktop requires driver not supported ubuntu or that?. have compiz work on desktop? thanks y. did install nvidia driver? how system > preferences > enable desktop effects ...

kind of non-descriptive subject, i'm trying , not sure if there easy-ish way program using ledcontrol library: i need random number of leds between 1-4 come on right side of 8x8 display , scroll left 1 pixel, followed random number of leds between 1-4 appear on right, whole matrix move left 1 pixel, etc etc. i've been messing around , found few ways scroll, preconfigured bits scrolling across, not random. is there command shifts register on left 1 using library? my md_max72xx library supports transformations primitives single pixel movements natively. library in code repository linked below if interested. i have desktop old, still has fine hardware run operating system (1.5gb ram). have tried installing both ubuntu, , xubuntu, both boot discs have same problem. takes me starting option screen pick language, , gives me options install. have tried of them, , once loading bar goes back, , forth way across cursor thing on screen minute, , screen goes blank, , nothing happens. know can't disc probelm because used both of them on other computers succesfully. there no operating system on desktop @ moment since wiped http://www.dban.org/ i have same problem. i'm trying install on netbook. loads fine flashdrive, install , asks me reboot after install done. after rebooting, ubuntu logo orange bar going , forth. after black screen. ps. i'm brand new linux user. i have arduino mega , want hook , independently control ten of these 5v solenoids: https://www.sparkfun.com/products/11015 i believe need external power solenoids , maybe transistors? but knowledge quite lacking , awesome if slap diagram or breadboard plan show need , how put basic project. they running hours @ time of them extended 5-10 second periods, may need cooled, i'm not sure how hot get. you def need external power , transistors (or solid state relays: can switch high current) , so-called flyback diode, backwards across solenoid. this tutorial should started.
