Where are the cable locks on the camera? - Raspberry Pi Forums
attaching cable rpi easy , when ordered longer cable use current project, hadn't yet removed cables cameras - have new cable , read attach - can't see how! there must clip somewhere, part of assembly moves , in direction , need unlock , extract cable not obvious! (and 55yr-old eyesight isn't helping, magnifying glass :-/ ) clip @ rpi end easy open fingernails need use tool release camera end? close-up images or videos knows of?
if matters,this camera: http://www.ebay.com/itm/331600976328?_t ... ebidx%3ait
, cable: http://www.ebay.com/itm/141703924529?_t ... ebidx%3ait
had use chinese knock-off pi noir because has power take-offs on corners of board , simplifies adding ir lights. realise cable 20cm longer recommended willing experiment or perhaps slow down capture rate, can use length. (this beehive project , physical access issue)
way, cable arrived crushed vendor. i'm expecting fail. still need swap out test it.
thanks,
graham

never mind! pulled out official pi noir , opened fine ... @ point realised why couldn't open 1 ir lights...
had superglued lens unit close-up work. flat surface attach plastic ring around lens part of clamp cable goes in. of glue must have attached black locking bar rest of clamp. know push, i'll have brute-force it. (i had been worried maybe there sort of lock had slid first. memories of trashing half dozen micro-sd sd converters before discovered lock on - didn't want repeat same mistake!)
know now. whether manage or not, that's story!
update: managed force apart squeezing nail in edge , sliding along. broke nail not camera
, works fine 50cm cable. compared real pinoir , think it's better image. surprisingly. ir lights had plastic lens in front of them - 1 of them fell off. realised that side of picture looked better diffuse light, removed other cap well. illumination more level , looks good. remaining problem 1 end of image little out of focus. i'm not sure if that's because it's farther lens , beyond focus of lens attached ... or if because glued lens off-center. suspect latter , tomorrow i'll pull off , reattach more accurately.
on monday goes hive , i'll start posting videos.
