Thread: Black Screen During Install

i have desktop old, still has fine hardware run operating system (1.5gb ram). have tried installing both ubuntu, , xubuntu, both boot discs have same problem. takes me starting option screen pick language, , gives me options install. have tried of them, , once loading bar goes back, , forth way across cursor thing on screen minute, , screen goes blank, , nothing happens. know can't disc probelm because used both of them on other computers succesfully. there no operating system on desktop @ moment since wiped http://www.dban.org/

i have same problem.

i'm trying install on netbook.

loads fine flashdrive, install , asks me reboot after install done.

after rebooting, ubuntu logo orange bar going , forth. after black screen.

ps. i'm brand new linux user.
