Merged WebHelp Pro Project Questions
i have built many single project helps first request around merged project piece. here few questions requestors / tech writers asking me.
if project set main/shell project several sub-projects):
- how tables of contents (toc) set up? (one main? 1 per sub-project?) 1 know, 1 toc parent / redirected child project.
- if update affected several files within multiple sub-projects, single revision address all?
i assuming update need made in each sub-project unless oringally mapped out cross project link correct?
- if update affected several files within multiple sub-projects, possible update selected files? sorta reverse if files not mapped cross project each project need individually updated.
a few other questions relates search engine around merged project. search engine search merged projects, or there way limit search engine @ 1 of child projects during search?

how toc setup largely you. people have master project no topics in it. in case master toc needs have slave projects added displays slave tocs in order in added. if master project have topics ok , add slaves in master toc want them appear.
the other questions ask little more difficult answer without knowing format of providing , little more detail. in scenario refer using redirection topics display content of single topic (i.e. there multiple references in various slave projects display single topic content)? if case need change topic content.
regarding search function, works across of slave projects master. know of no way limit search specific slaves other excluding them compile (e.g. using conditional build tags). if using webhelp know users use third party search utility may able use limit search specific projects. there way of "hiding" individual topics search you'd have on topics in slave project may long winded want. if want this, can find out how in ace rick stone's tips n tricks file.
