database connection.. or lack thereof - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

hello,

i trying several hours yesterday evening first browser install, , manually install joomla 1.0.12 on fedora. seems correct keep running same problem, error in browser says "could not connect database server".

this puzzling me have set other things this, , wordpress on same server.

i add hosted on dedicated server @ godaddy.

i've checked , rechecked (many times) file permissions, , database login/pass etc.

if has idea problem appreciate it.

could compare configuration settings of wordpress on same server?
