lcd cell count

hi, simple missing plot. have searched can't find info hope can help.
on 16 x 2 lcd, want autoscroll left if there in last cell, otherwise noautoscroll.  how detect if printed in last cell of lcd? 

the screen doesn't give feedback, unless keep track of display (using kind of counter or quite array), there no way of knowing in each cell.
