How to measure speed and direction in high accuracy, low speed and low cost
hi (first post! forgiving
i got little toy car (about 6cm wheel diameter) running small stepper motors @ low speed.
i'm trying capture movement. i'm using sort of reflection sensor , little cardboard fan made placed on wheel axle.
though it's accuracy want (it has 24 holes , 24 wings. ~8deg?), it's not robust , doesn't capture direction.
there million ways measure these (from i've found, @ least 3 optic ones, 3 magnetic ones, gyros , more) , each find myself reading ages , not being sure if fits, or try find parts , find out super expensive. of post found bicycle different.
so thought maybe here have experience , knowledge tell me what's best solution me.
thanks!

this called learning curve, should not afraid of it.
it seems found right sensors , best way find 1 has library , start going through examples.
lot of learning curve can fun actual building thing.
