Connecting to Internet via PC w/ wifi adapter - Raspberry Pi Forums
hello rpi community, never, ever post on forums, having found else's forum post able answer own questions, nevertheless, i'm here, without answers , confused. how's run-on sentence? anyways, ambitiously want begin "pi-ing" i've hit first, extraordinarily complicated wall already... connecting pi internet using ethernet cable goes pc...which hooked via wifi adapter.

i'm running pi mouse, keyboard, monitor using hdma->vga adapter, , audio. so, though it's not headless, still able follow tutorial fine, , posted because accurate solution quest far, else needed understood how use raspberry pi answers far complicated.
had tried many things before-hand , gone through many resources of either on head or didn't work, no matter how to-the-tee followed it...something in setup little different.
example, in video link posted, had no option share "local area connection" or in case believe have been labeled "ethernet" until renamed it, , ran brick wall when had edit cmd.txt in os.
story , half.... when tried looking had changed recovery.cmd.txt, there due partitioning process, ip address change wasn't registering. decided idea try , things myself... had checked ifconfig, did sudo route -n or whatever , decided "sudo nano /etc/network/interface" , changed whole bmask, gateway, switched set "manual" static...and whole jazz because thought that's had in order change ip address static ip of choice.
here's quick background: i'm familiar outer workings of windows 7 & 8...but have no idea how network...or in world of lmao...so remotely familiar when speaking in terms of networking...i learned today. nevermind throwing networking, , linux commands, , little raspberry pi machine @ me @ once.
continue epic journey; had followed video tutorial [the 1 posted] , found out had start rpi in recovery mode, edit cmd.txt there, , able change ip address, appending pc's ip using "::" had done that, returned /etc/network/interface file it's original status because had taken picture of on phone rewrote , whatever had controlled working should, still can not ping google, , uber confused.
simple step step guide more lifesaver, when guiding me through avoid super raspberry pi technical talk if can, , explain every bit of networking if life depended on infant correctly setting explosive router computer.
p.s. able correctly configure putty , xming, if need use can
