Thread: unexperienced user.WIERD PROBLEM INSALLATION 8.04 TO 9.04

hello,

installed in laptop ubuntu 8.04. working , satisfied operating system. yesterday choose "update ubuntu 8.04 9.04" add remove programs.
downloaded updates , installed it.
after while asked insert username , password , after dooing it,

asked me to:

enter host name , port (hostort) login.

ok cancel

don't know insert host or port..!!

please me

you can't update through 2 versions of ubuntu, may have problems if things running. other users have tried have done may have other comments make.

suggest make absolutely have personal files backed external disk of sort using live cd. can keep trying things running again current system, think may end having reinstall new version scratch, , if that's case perhaps wait 9.10, if able, or use beta version available.
