Thread: Xfire networking problem

first i'd add wasn't sure if appropriate start thread in wine forum, if better suited elsewhere feel free move it.

anyway, thinking running ubuntu 9.04 on laptop primary operating system needs met (and amazingly every game want run on runs faster through wine or natively on linux). thing keeping me xfire. not because has problems (which i've found way keep updating can use compatible, older version), because @ apartment i'm stuck behind college's network , xfire cannot connect unless route it's traffic through proxy tunnnel.

on windows use desproxy route traffic through http proxy. routed cs.xfire.com hostname in hosts file localhost, used desproxy route traffic through http proxy. works, i'm not entirely sure how on ubuntu.

i've managed compile source code desproxy on linux, , worked, , program seems working. don't know how set up.

suggestions? btw, i'm using 64 bit edition of ubuntu.

thanks.

edit: feel stupid posting this. figured out , got same setup have on windows working on ubuntu. had figure out linux hosts file was.
