Use RPi to control power on/off PC (ATX) - Raspberry Pi Forums

i hoping needed circuitry not dificult:

problem follows. have firewall/routing pc provides wifi ap using usb wifi long-range wifi antenna. problem antenna goes down lot. unplugging @ usb , replugging not fix problem since wlanap not recover , restore wifi access after such switch. further issuing soft reboot instruction doesn't fix antenna since never loses power (usb stays on) long enough reset , antenna still down following soft reboot.

looks if solution here cause full powerdown of pc make antenna lose power restart pc after short delay.

direct way achieve somehow wire circuit allowing pi's gpio ports initiate momentary contact power switch signal in same manner (sometimes absent week or two) human finger might via case's power button. while i'm @ have pc generate signal pi indicating it's powered (the pi can trigger power switch momentarily if pc's when shouldn't such after power outage).

note: pc has mobo have no documentation setting auto-on mode hence need pi know when pc on or not on.

there's 2 parts problem:

1. remotely control momentary power switch of pc using pi's gpio
2. detect on/off state of pc @ pi (also on gpio)

ps: unplugging antenna's usb cable impractical anyways since cannot performed when human isn't around perform procedure :p
