Thread: sound driver installation

new linux. trying install creative sound blaster driver on ubuntu 9.04 x 64. have down loaded driver folder on home/john/soundblaster/xfidrv_linux_public_us_1.00

in terminal have done following:

john@study3:~/soundblaster/xfidrv_linux_public_us-1.00 make

make seemed work no errors
stuck on how run install:
instructions in readme file state:
1) goto source directory
2) execute make command root
make
make install

have done following root
sudo su
root@study3: /home/john/soundblaster/xfidrv_linux_public_us_1.00 install

install returns:
install missing file operand
did go wrong? have supplied path xfidrv file wants destination , not know appropriate. can 1 help?
