Project Approach Advice please :) - Raspberry Pi Forums

hi all,

i've been running ridiculously simple home automation system off main pc while now, have decided time upgrade , make lot more spangly.

so, i've attached image of plan have in mind , i'm looking suggestions improve/simplify things, if i'm missing or got wrong.

i'm not thinking wiring/coding yet. trying firm idea of , won't work. on image, wiring i've drawn on power (i've left gpio bits later )

i'm looking advice on individual components (what models/types etc)

overall plan have 4 of these units, 1 in each room want automated. run both voice control (by steven hickson) , simple touch gui via php.

microphone, need sensitive enough pick audio on room without need me raise voice (pretty conversational volume)

think that's first project post.

so, suggestions/comments appreciated

hi again all,

after loooooooooooooooooot of reading/watching , tinkering idea, i've updated project plan.

due locations of different parts, i've decided try , wireless communication going between main control unit , satellite units.

i've searched wireless switch/relays use, i've seen has been wifi based, isn't option house awful wifi communication, using tried , true method i've used many times in past, figured i'd go wireless doorbell option. can see diagram, poses problem, can't head around need add system on 'other side' of receivers make things work. motor , led strips have own power supplys need way turn these on based on signal coming receiver brain has hit wall, suggestions welcome.
