Thread: Problem with USB Printer in Ubuntu

hey folks,

setting new computer 9.10 beta , having trouble getting hp laserjet 6p printer set up. new motherboard doesn't have parallel port, i'm using parallel-to-usb cable connect printer mb.

have various hp printer packages installed, printer configuration tool not detect printer (it's on , hooked via usb).

relevant dmesg seems be:

any thoughts? (one other thing: running 32bit ubuntu 9.10beta, on 64bit athlon chip--a fact has caused trouble tweetdeck.... , segfault makes me wonder).

i started same segfault in various processes seemingly @ random when upgrading 9.10.

example:
kernel: [ 2891.050533] evolution-data-[6390]: segfault @ ip b6bac9fb sp b5afec50 error 4 in libc-2.10.1.so[b6b3f000+13e000]

or

glxinfo[6991]: segfault @ bf8ad000 ip b76a4006 sp bf8a2d28 error 6 in libc-2.10.1.so[b762f000+13e000]


maybe same root cause... did find out problem in case?
