Thread: Package status error

ok, installed netbook remix on 8gb sd wife's eee pc (700). install went fine. started adding of essentials apps , add-ons ff. in middle of , battery failed. when plugged in , fired up, had not enter sign saying there problem dependencies. assumed had been corrupted, rebooted , went recovery mode , ran fsck. many, many errors, fsck completed. when rebooted, same problem. when run apt, dpkg, etc. errors similar to:

e: problem parsing dependency depends
e: error occurred while processing mono-2.0-gac (newversion1)
e: problem mergelist /var/lib/dpkg/status
e: package lists or status file not parsed or opened.

searched , found couple of ideas, but:

sudo apt-get -f install
sudo dpkg --configure -a

, moving status file , restoring old version did not work. assuming have start on , reinstall, wanted check first. noting odd (but maybe unrelated) behaviors such ff not enabling button. ideas?
