Question about touch screen driven by raspberry pi - Raspberry Pi Forums

hi everyone, i'm thinking mounting touch screen on wall interface bunch of stuff lights, air conditioning, etc. move towards getting smarter home.

problem can see unless restrict screens common areas of house need able fulfill 2 requirements:
1. put screen sleep mode after "x" seconds, means dark since screen may mounted in bedroom
2. re-activate screen touching (i.e. double-tap i've seen on windows phone)

i'm heading down raspberry pi path because i've had @ mounting ipads on wall there no way re-activate them screen only, means need cutout home button. not big deal when combine price think 10" capacitive screen powered pi more flexible.

know if these 2 things possible?

i've searched forums led me little confused, "sleep mode" feature coming, depending on screen talking about, , can't find direct answers "yes, possible because i've done it".
