Introducing Piro: My Raspberry Pi robot project - Raspberry Pi Forums
hi all!
introducing piro robot, using raspberry pi 2 cpu.
have been interested in robotics, when got raspberry pi 2 (originally testing rpix86 on it) decided build robot myself. more interested in software side of robotics, did not want build simple robot-controlled car, decided two-wheel balancing robot might achievable limited building skills. last sunday managed robot balance first time! https://youtu.be/mifhwdpm5oq
since more of programmer hardware guy, working on robot has been educational. made mistakes along way, , rpix86 project, have documented mistakes achievements on blog posts on new http://piro.patrickaalto.com pages.
plans include adding speech recognition, face recognition, environment mapping, deep learning, , on robot. interested in learning algorithms used in field of robotics, , instead of looking @ algorithms on computer screen, wanted see algorithms in action, created piro. still work in progress, post here (and on blog) whenever interesting done it. assuming there interest, of course.
anyways, reading, , best of luck own projects! after building own robot can appreciate how difficult make hardware working. programming easy compared that!

great work! built 1 2 years ago , great learning process.
using encoders on motors? encoders able balancing bot balance on spot.
