Internet scan coming up empty - Raspberry Pi Forums

hi,
first time i've tried connect pi internet, , using ethernet cable. ethernet cord works, , router have plugged works. when plug in cable, lnk light steady green, when scan on wpi gui, nothing ever comes up. there no network available, nothing when click scan , window pops up. don't know i've done wrong here, please let me know! thanks.

i assume running raspbian? jessie or wheezy? run following commands in terminal , post output here:

ifconfig cat /etc/network/interfaces netstat -rn
have tried rebooting pi after plugged in network cable?
