Disappearing Text boxes

hi there! i'm in last few days of working on project. today, when opened project, text boxes displayed yesterday muddled up. when @ them in thumbnail view, should (in case, orange border white background) when @ slide itself, box gone, , can't double click @ properties. if preview movie, box pure black.

several weeks ago, upgraded captivate v. 1.01, , tried running updater install again today... in case! no avail. i'm in serious time crunch right - have advice?

posibilities:
1) try removing text-entry object , replacing new one.
. . . . (sounds object might corrupted. if there more one, of them might causing problem, , you'll have replace them one-at-a-time until find culprit) . . .

2) create new "blank" project same size, bring "bad" 1

3) don't try click or double-click object on slide. timeline for. double-click on timeline, or better yet, right-click on timeline , select "properties".
