Thread: Problem when uninstalling mysql-server

hi,

installed mysql server while ago, through apt-get. wanted give manual install of latest mysql server version try, did stupid. deleted mysql folders installed when apt-get installed mysql-server on system. did because thought precompiled binaries downloaded mysql.com once.
so, later on, tried remove mysql-server trough apt-get... somehow apt-get tries shutdown mysql server, while isn't running, searches my.cnf in of folders deleted. can't delete mysql-server package anymore...
should do?

p.s.: here's complete output of apt-get when try remove mysq-server via 'autoremove'. there pops mysql config window seen when installing mysql, not when uninstalling. asks set root password, press enter, , process continues(no, doesn't ask mysql root password, asks me set 1 up!)
