How will moisture affect an Arduino? Rain?

hi all,

i'm thinking moving solar panel monitoring system outside doesn't take room in living room.  i've got arduino yun taking readings , sending data webserver.

before move outside, wanted poll group , see how worried should weather/elements affecting electronic components.  there specific amount of moisture reduce functionality?

my plan put battery, charge controller, , arduino plastic bin, didn't plan on making airtight.  enough rain, decent amount of humidity ( not water ), potentially in there.  want make sure don't fry protect more airtight set up.

thanks all.

for sure! if dunk in water might stop working. :) or might survive.

check humidity specs in data sheets. they're viable in rain forest.

i used build rain gauge systems. designed -get- wet. cabinets designed have tight door seals, not infinitely guaranteed because on use , time -could- leak bit. nothing mounted in bottom of cabinet in case there serious water intrusion. there drain hold drilled in each corner account tilt in random direction, again account minor leakage.

you can mount in appropriate size rubbermaid container. -they're- designed sealed , waterproof. there's 1 simple thing allow potential leakage. mount i/o cables/connectors in -bottom- of container. water can't leak 'down-into' container.

the real concern -do- have oxidation on time, adds resistance. can happen @ plug/socket connection point, , in crimped wire connections. fix plug/socket connection unplug-replug them twice year. :) unfortunately includes socketed ic s might have. fix , crimped connectors (not plug/socket connectors) conformal coat them. drawback makes them -very- difficult work on later -if- need it.
