Thread: Continual Installation Problems with wubi

until few days ago, had xubuntu 8.10 installed on second laptop - old toshiba satellite pro 4600 - via wubi.

hadn't used few months, when fired there number of updates needed. think 250, after did first 30 or so, got error messages , update aborted.

so, there being option upgrade 9.04, took that. didn't install either, , when rebooted, hung @ point of doing swapfile(s).

going horribly wrong, popped windows 2000 , uninstalled xubuntu control panel.

then, downloaded fresh .iso of xubuntu 9.04 , put onto usb stick, defragged c drive, rebooted windows , ran wubi had extracted new .iso.

@ start, went ok, install hung @ point said creating virtual partitions.

so, cancelled install, , rebooted. surprised find xubuntu option on splash screen (as 1 windows 2000), thinking go nowhere, selected , pleasantly surprised see xubuntu seemingly loading normal.

went various installation screens, gave me following error message:

some of partitions created small. please make following partitions @ least large (in bytes):

if not go partitions , increase size of these partitions, installation may fail.
go back continue

if press 'go back', goes previous automated screen , returns same error message. if press 'continue', installation hangs. problem wubi installation automatic - there no option me influence size of partitions!

here have ideas should next?

btw, please don't tell me install cd, cd on pc broken , it's old bios doesn't have option boot usb.

are sure this? thought wubi lets choose installation size want on installer?
