Thread: Help with a few questions please...





hi there, installed ubuntu 9.04 version through wubi installer (couldn't wait live cd download). also, can't wait until new release it's around corner!!

couple quick questions though real fast.


  • what difference between synaptic package manager & add/remove?
  • how install video driver manually ati 2600 hd 512mb?
  • any versions of photoshop compatible ubuntu (debating gimp)?
  • i posted thread other day, no found?!?
  • where "device manager", see if devices installed ( r windows noob )

1. add / remove more descriptive , doesn't list packages actual packagename. instead converts name non-techines understand.

synaptic installs programs according package name.
there new program in karmic (i advise wait it, kind of pain install it, mess up, , realize theirs new version download)
called ubuntu software center. sorta add / remove + kpackagekit
