Thread: Can anyone help me with electrical interference and my sound card?
i having lot of issues emi , sound card (and onboard sound). know community discussion forum forum , there can here.
have intel core 2 duo e6600 overclocked 3.15ghz (i don't think over-volted it, , think having these problems before did that) asus p5b deluxe wi-fi ap edition, geforce 8800gt 512mb , soundblaster audigy 4 (not pro). when have 5.1 speakers plugged sound card emi sound through speakers , subwoofer if turn woofer more halfway. emi more noticeable in subwoofer. if plug microphone pink mic slot makes terrible, deafening sound (if microphone turned on). if microphone plugged in turned off not. however, if plug microphone or device line in there no such issue. complicate things more trying use gnuitar effects bass , when turn program on amplifies terribly , have close program.
tried using onboard audio speakers , don't emi way (i can turn woofer , speakers way , there no noticeable sound part) there still some. there slight, imperceptible hum when running gnuitar , every , hear little bit of if writing using wacom tablet. can plug normal microphone onboard along speakers , not terrible interference; however, if use stereo array mic came motherboard produces sound. also, reason when tried playing 1 of games (batman: arkham asylum) sound off. barely hear voices in game (and not @ all) other effects loud be.
tried using audigy 4 recording device , onboard audio playback nothing else plugged audigy mic port gave off awful emi hum or buzz (i don't know difference).
so:
audigy 4 has noticeable emi speakers , unbearable microphone in mic port. line in not this. cannot use gnuitar or rakarrack without terrible emi.
onboard audio has little emi speakers (although not notice @ all) , none can tell normal mic array mic unbearable. sound messed somehow in games (perhaps had set 2 speakers instead of 5.1, wouldn't case unless auto device recognition did upon reboot). can use gnuitar onboard (haven't tried rakarrack have been testing in windows xp).
want know how rid of terrible emi. want able use audigy card recording device , sound device without emi on speakers (normally or using guitar effects program). nice able use microphones own. if onboard audio worked in games , in ubuntu, working array mic, wouldn't worry it. however, did pay $70 sound card few years ago, , assuming has own special devices on control audio, prefer use that. reason want sound card work have heard having dedicated sound card can take stress off of cpu in gaming.
note: pc tower apevia aspire xpleasure , partly aluminum , partly plastic (the front bay plastic). sitting on carpet stands bit off ground due legs.
thank you.
my guess either duff card, or duff connection. have tried pulling out card , reseating it? perhaps try in different slot if can.
steve.
