Flash Player 9

i've tested sites today, , internet explorer required me install flash player 9, on ones published flash player 6! when declining install, old swfs didn't want play. shouldn't way, right?

the same did not happen on firefox, because had player version 8 installed on ff, version 7 on ie.

what's wrong?

what experience have new flash player 9?

i wouldn't think - installed player 9 , tested site (published player 8) , worked
fine. detection method?
