Turn the LED on when the switch is open

is ok thing do?  if not why?  there should change?

i want when switch closed light off, when switch open light go on.  monitoring door , have use switch there.  switch closed when door closed , open when door open. 

it works when try out on breadboard, true of lot of bad ideas.
