rollOver button picture scroll

hey everyone,
i'm bit new actionscript , having real hard time. i'm trying create picture slide (that looks piece of film negative). have 20 thumbnails scroll thru want able see around 4 pics or @ at time can scroll thru them. i've created left arrow , right arrow when rollover them scroll film in either direction till ends. when rollout, scrolling stops in place. i've heard way start create mask see amount of image. eventually, clicking on thumbnails link full images. i've seen things on internet know it's possible.

feeling pretty lost , stupid, have ideas?
