Thread: Getting USB going before fstab

hi.

despite novice skills i've managed ubuntu 9.04/mediatomb based server going. have 1 small problem can't sort, hoping ridiculously high combined iq of these forums can me.

use external ntfs formatted usb hard drive store media on. works fine - have manually mount @ startup.

have tried sticking line in fstab, throws error tells me
/dev/sdb1
(my hard drive) doesn't exist.

i'm guessing because whatever process automatically loads usb drive (so can mount it) happens after fstab.

means mediatomb loads before usb drive, , removes external media database because can't find it. have reload entire media database every time boot.

how can make usb loading thingy sets /dev/sdb1 happen before fstab?

or there better approach?

not , did quick google and

"if device/partition not listed in fstab only root may mount device/partition."

perhaps that's problem?

seems quite useful: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=283131
