internal data error when uploading images

i have had no problem uploading files , images. now, can upload files, when try upload image ftp error - internal data error. connected directly server , tried transfer images, didn't work either. know causing this?

i've never heard of this, 2 things come mind.

1) file in question opening being edited in application?

2) have tried passive ftp?
