Thread: New to ubuntu and few questions

hello, i'm new here , ubuntu. i'm going install ubuntu!... , have windows , ubuntu both installed in system until comfortable ubuntu.
have never used ubuntu.
i'm preparing pc ubuntu.
first question. long story short, pc installed windows xp , partitioned way:
c: 68 gb (windows installed)
d: 59 gb
, 337 gb of unallocated space.

i've been watching videos , says ubuntu should installed on same drive windows. in case, how space should leave windows , how space ubuntu? after format unallocated drive e:, can ubuntu still make use of space? (stupid question?)

also, i've been watching videos in ubuntu installed on vista, allows shrink drive, , xp doesn't. how install it? forgive ignorance. appreciated.

well maybe should consider installing ubuntu on drive d: , think save lot of troubles... allways way... sawes lot of trouble windows...

337 gb of unallocated space? ain't 337 mb? in case 337 gb maybe should consider using gigantic free space ubuntu partition...

possible disc e: answer yes after formating ntfs or linux native partition ubuntu able use it...

p.s.: newbee/after 3 years linux still cant i'm sommething more/ newbee think should "measure/check twice , cut/format once" hope helpfull somehow...
