powering Arduino UNO r3 and Adafruit Motor Shield v2

hello everybody,

i have received 2 mentioned boards , want power stepper motor (adafruit 324).
i have installed libraries, ide, , compiled , loaded stepper example.
if use 5v usb power (inserting vin jumper on motorshield v2) see how stepper works seems low torque.
instead of that, if power board using 12v/1a jack , seems work ok.

the main doubt have if want communicate motor using usb virtual com port , external power (in order have desired torque).

1. possible powering arduino uno r3 usb, removing vin jumper (motorshield) , using blue vin (5-12 v) terminal ports?

2. because if plug both (usb , jack power) vin jumper inserted (motorshield), damage board?

hope answers, thank much

enrique

1. no, if using usb power , vin on uno low, not suffient motor shield.
2. yes, motor shield generate 5v system, equal usb power . actually, can remove usb then.
