Motorised camera slider

hi all,

i making motorised camera slider, , figured use topic post updates , keep track of advancement of project.

i'm making friend who's photographer. wants use timelapses, i.e., take 100s of photos on long durations  (30min-4h).

here's potato-quality video of got far:

at moment managed manual remote control of dolly , camera trigger. next step implementing actual useful part, is, program mode. user enters total travel distance, travel time, , number of pictures (or time between them) , dolly moves automatically , pictures taken @ desired intervals. based on travel time & distance plan have 2 modes:
- fast travel: continuous mode, dolly moves continuously on rails , pictures taken @ set intervals while dolly moving.
- slow travel (intended use): move-shoot-move, dolly moves position, picture taken, dolly moves next position etc. allows slow timelapses, e.g. 400 photos on 4 hours, while saving battery (motor disabled after each move).

suggestions , remarks welcome!
